interamericas

Founded in 1992, InterAmericas/Society of Arts and Letters of the Americas/ Sociedad de Artes de las Américas is a programme of the New York Foundation for the Arts that creates and participates in collaborative projects celebrating the richness and diversity of the arts and humanities of the Americas.

For the inauguration of the InterAmericas Space within CCA7 on June 29, 2000, two exhibitions were created that treat aspects of the architectural history of the Caribbean. The first documents the history of Building number 7 in the Fernandes Industrial Estate, which houses CCA7. The second is an exhibition of, Caribbean Counterpoint: Two Cities in the Archipelago, with photographs of Havana, Cuba, and Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, by Nancy Stout.

"In a matter of minutes you can be out of the city and in nature.  I spent the rest of the day taking pictures of the surrounding landscape – of the lovely town beach and of the rivers where the locals go to refresh themselves and wash their clothes in the midst of the day"
