Art Camp 2002: Roots & Wings Freedom
Caribbean Contemporary Arts is hosting Roots & Wings Freedom, the 2nd Annual Art Camp at CCA7, a Centre for the Contemporary Arts. There are two 2-week sessions, starting 15th July 26th July and 29th July 9th August 2002. Teenagers are invited to participate in a series of workshops with artists and educators who will motivate them to develop skills and concepts to create art and communication skills. Artist-led workshops will be in the Visual Arts, Theatre, Mas-making, Sculpture, Print-making and Textiles.
This years participants will also be introduced to techniques such as conflict resolution, team building skills and relaxation techniques.
Workshops will emphasise building creativity regardless of the individuals level of experience. Students will learn the importance of art as a means of personal expression, while exploring ideas of cultural diversity.
At the end of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to share their work with family and friends during a Family Day event and through an exhibition that will be up for one week. The Family Day is scheduled for Saturday 10th August 2002, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
